OCTA 2233 - Developmental Disabilities Theory and Practice This course covers the theory and application of occupational therapy services for people with developmental disabilities. Emphasis will be on occupational therapy services provided from birth through school age and young adulthood. Frames of reference such as neurodevelopment treatment, sensory integration, developmental, and motor learning theory will be introduced and practiced. Students will continue to implement the OT Framework. Students will learn to give population specific standardized assessments. Trends in special education and transition services will be explored. Includes lab component.
All previous OCTA coursework with a grade of “C” or better or instructor approval.
