HITC 1333 - CPT and HCPCS CodingThe course will examine the process of coding procedures using Current Procedural Terminology IV (CPT-IV) and HCFA’s Common Procedural Coding System (HCPCS). CPT coding guidelines, section guidelines, modifier usage, and code linkage will be examined in detail. Students will be exposed to HCPCS codes and the hospital chargemaster. Coding exercises will demonstrate the student’s understanding of the principles of CPT coding. Prerequisites: BIOL 1314 and ALDH 1323 , with a grade of “C” or better. Includes lab component.
