MUSC 1631 - Class Piano III This is a group piano class designed for music majors who have taken Class Piano II. Basic concepts of music and music theory as well as keyboard-specific techniques will be taught. The course will cover reading music notation and musical terms, playing scales and chords in level-appropriate keys, recognition of major key signatures, sight-reading, transposition, harmonization, improvisation, and strategies for memorization and performance. Students will study piano literature from various historical styles and sharpen critical thinking skills as they analyze music presented. Open to non-music majors.
Prerequisite: MUSC 1621 with a grade of “C” or better or instructor approval. Semester Offered Fall, Spring, Summer
