AVST 1123 - Private Pilot Flight Lab Training conducted under 14 CFR 141 will consist of a minimum of 35 flight training hours training in preparation for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) practical exam (checkride). Training conducted under 14 CFR 61 will consist of a minimum of 40 flight training hours in preparation for the FAA practical exam (checkride). The FAA has established these flight time minimums; however, it is extremely important to note that national flight time averages are documented significantly above published FAA minimums.The Professional Pilot majors must comply with Tulsa Community College’s FAA approved Training Course Outline and Student Policy Manual. Flight lab costs are based on hourly aircraft and instructor rental rate. Published aircraft rental and instruction rates are available in the tuition and fees section of the TCC catalog. The Private Pilot Airplane Knowledge (written exam) and Practical Test (checkride) require an additional external cost to vendors outside of the TCC network. The FAA Private Pilot Certification Course must be completed in order to advance within the Professional Pilot program. Pre-enrollment documentation requirements must be submitted to the Aviation Center before course enrollment holds will be removed.
