ART 1053 - Art History Survey I A survey of the history of global art and architecture from prehistoric times through the global Middle Ages. The study of global artistic traditions and representative works from cultures across the world and basic artistic principles and vocabulary. Analysis of how art reflects social, political, religious, and cultural contexts. Emphasis is placed on developing visual literacy, critical analysis, and an understanding of cross-cultural exchanges that have shaped the past and the present. Acquire foundational art historical skills to prepare for advanced study.
Required of all art majors.
