Electronics Technology Certificate, Biomedical Equipment Technology Option

Program Description

This certificate prepares the student with the necessary knowledge and skills to gain employment as an entry level biomedical equipment technician. The biomedical equipment technician is qualified for positions in medical research and development, operation calibration, and maintenance of medical equipment for hospitals, equipment suppliers, and manufacturers. This certificate also allows incoming credit from approved Military Electronics Training Facilities.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this program, you will be able to:

  • Manage medical equipment safety.
  • Use a digital multimeter (DMM).
  • Analyze anatomy and physiology as it relates to human sensors.
  • Troubleshoot the major monitors used in a hospital.
  • Analyze the operation of personal monitors as it relates to patient care in medical facilities.
  • Troubleshoot patent analyzers using calibrated defibrillators or test equipment for proper usage.
  • Analyze equipment faults power with a power safety analyzer in teams.
