Engineering Technology, Quality and Inspection Technician Certificate I Program Map


This program map is an example of how you can complete this certificate in one calendar year. See an academic advisor for a customized program map that works for you.  To earn this certificate, you must achieve a minimum 2.0 (‘C’) grade point average on the courses listed below.

Note the Milestones below each semester.  Milestones are reminders of actions you should take during that semester to help keep you on track for certificate completion.

Note: it is possible to complete both the Quality and Inspection Technician Certificates I and II concurrently in one academic year. A student interested in the accelerated plan for completion of the QIT I & II Certificates should discuss this option with their academic advisor. Details are available in the Quality and Inspection Technician II Certificate Map.

Milestones


  • During the first semester, register with MSSC for national assessment testing in the following subjects:
    • Safety
    • Quality
  • Check the academic calendar for important dates and deadlines impacting classes and financial aid.
  • To maintain financial aid eligibility, a student must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 for all credit hours attempted and complete 67% of the courses attempted. Review your Financial Aid Dashboard or visit the Financial Aid Office to determine your financial aid status.
  • Meet with an academic advisor to discuss progress on the certificate program of study and prepare for the next semester.
  • Discuss the Quality and Inspection Technician Certificate II requirements with your academic advisor to determine how to apply courses in the QIT I certificate toward completion of the QIT II. 
  • Visit Career Services to explore career opportunities associated with this certificate.

Milestones

  • To maintain financial aid eligibility, a student must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 for all credit hours attempted and complete 67% of the courses attempted. Review your Financial Aid Dashboard or visit the Financial Aid Office to determine your financial aid status.
  • Meet with an academic advisor to file for graduation and to discuss how these courses may also be applied toward the requirements for another certificate or degree.
    • File for completion of Quality and Inspection Technician I Certificate.
    • e.g., Two of the four courses required for the Certified Production Technician (Safety and Quality) will be completed as part of this program of study. Consider registering for ENGT 1313 Production Processes and Procedures and ENGT 1543 Manufacturing Maintenance to complete the remaining two assessments for this certification.
    • The Quality and Inspection Technician Certificate II is designed to build upon the content of the Quality and Inspection Technician Certificate I. Consider registering for classes to earn the advanced QIT II Certificate (discuss this option with your academic advisor).
      • Note: it is possible to complete both the level I and level II certificates concurrently. A student interested in the accelerated plan for completion of the QIT I & II Certificates should discuss this with their academic advisor.
