DHYG 1353 - Periodontology Role of the dental hygienist in the treatment of periodontal disease; normal periodontium; pathogenesis and etiology of periodontal disease; host response and periodontitis as a manifestation of systemic diseases; evidence-based approach to periodontal care; assessment, planning, implementation and maintenance strategies for the prevention and treatment of periodontal diseases.
Prerequisites: Successful completion of all previous Dental Hygiene (DHYG) coursework with a grade of “C” or better.
