Program Description

The AAS Applied Technology prepares students for employment or career advancement through an individualized program of study that combines general education with a technical specialty. Students can apply the knowledge, skills, and competencies obtained through the OK Career Tech system, Career Tech 2024-2025 Click Here , or previous career tech or college coursework in a technical discipline, toward the AAS Applied Technology degree.

Program Learning Outcomes

In addition to satisfying the learning outcomes of general education courses and the overall Institutional Learning Outcomes, program graduates will:

Know and be able to apply the terminology and conceptual frameworks related to common organizational structures and basic operations in the workplace
Have the technical skills expected of entry level employees in their field of study
Demonstrate the professional/ethical behaviors of essential workplace skills.

Communication 6 hours

ENGL 1113 - Composition I
and select one course from the following:
ENGL 1213 - Composition II
ENGL 2333 - Technical/Professional Writing
ENGL 2343 - Business Communication I

History and Political Science 6 hours

POLS 1113 - American Federal Government
and select one course from the following:
HIST 1483 - U.S. History 1492 to the Civil War Era
or
HIST 1493 - U.S. History - Civil War Era to the Present

General Education Recommended Electives 6 hours

Select six (6) credit hours from the list of Liberal Arts & Sciences Electives

Specialized Course Requirements Credit Hours: 42

Technical Block Credit 9-42 hours

Technical related coursework 0-33 hours

Additional specialized credit hours can be taken from the following TCC course disciplines to complete the 42 hour requirement:

ACCT, AVST, BMET, BUSN, CSCI, CSEC, CSYS, DGMD, DRFT, ELET, EMSP, ENGT, FEMS, GIS, HITC, ITCV, MGMT, MKTG, QCCT.

Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) credits can be awarded and used in the Technical Related coursework section that are not already awarded as block credit in the technical block credit section.
