Program Description

From calculating your car loan payment to understanding how search engines work, the principles of mathematics touch every part of your life. If you enjoy seeing the beauty of patterns, logic and processes in the world, why not become a mathematician?

Your degree in mathematics will provide you with analytical and critical thinking skills for lifelong learning. After graduation, you may continue to further education or straight into a career in fields like chemistry, engineering, computer science, statistics or physics.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this program, you will be able to:

  • Communicate mathematically using symbolic, graphical, numerical, and written representations of mathematics
  • Integrate techniques from various branches of mathematics
  • Evaluate the reasonableness of solutions.
  • Apply mathematics in a variety of contexts related to science, technology, or real-world issues.

Student Organizations

Take a break from studying and interact with other students interested in science and math by participating in the Sci-π Club on West Campus. Engage in critical thinking discussions after watching Event Horizon films or take a field trip to the Botanical Gardens.  For more information, speak with your mathematics professor or stop by the Student Life office on campus.

To receive an A.A. or A.S. degree, students must demonstrate computer proficiency.
Physical Education activity courses do not count toward the graduation requirements for this degree.
